I have knowledge of automation but want to work practically on it.

Apprecite all your posts. After doing QTP for 2 years, we realized our scripts are not robust when the UI changes, so we revisited our framework and for our new project and are trying to address shortcoming we have discovered. Understanding of what? Probably we should learn each others tasks and responsibilities and respect it with uniform attitude. It is our problem that gives new problem to us again. As people or team we need to understand why we all are here.

Exchange of words across each others will not help in successful run. Helping each other may probably help.

You said testing team are just information providers. Do not forget we also are information needers. Ask yourself what information you need and how to find them. It also matters how information was provided from you. If information was provided, still why that gap exist in knowing each other? If information provided is used only for business purpose to meet any agreed responsibilities or for self defence or team defence, problem arises.

Quality is in all our job. The informtaion provided will have its own quality that can make impact and build or break the credibility for team. Probably "ownership of the quality for product" is not with us and may be with decisiion makers or management.

Why not try to learn along with managers or team, what each of us do and the credibility that we have gained? If nothing is gained or learned from each other, time to introspect with self and team. Let us stop blaming and flaming and start learning about each others for why we are here. Prevention is better than cure.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11171360409184660126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6474889723199531038.post-47566452051263635782010-05-08T19:43:29.299+05:302010-05-08T19:43:29.299+05:30Hi,

Especially this scenario happens in almost all companies where testers are directly linked/working with development team.

Thanks
RamRamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05758703472215243698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6474889723199531038.post-35877486879988224262010-04-27T14:00:00.643+05:302010-04-27T14:00:00.643+05:30@Dhanasekar

Yes, there are situation where some unplanned work or very serious production issue comes and I have worked in weekends too. But want I am seeing is companies are slowly forcing to put extra hours of planned work. I was directly asked by supervisor to put effort till 9PM to 10PM to learn domain out of regular hours. The reason he gave was he did like that. I had clearly said my intention that "I don't expect company to provide me their 20% like Google, at the same don't expect my time for company as well” Once I was asked to do a task out of SPRINT, I then asked then why the hell do you have SPRINT? The problem is,if you start accepting with out questioning it keeps coming. Many don’t know when to say YES and when to say NO. And supervisors take advantage of that.
I just read in TCS results, that says it increased it profit by effective utilization of it skilled resources. I don’t know how those resources were utilized in pervious quarters. Effective does that mean more hours? I think so, what will they to improve efficiency in coming quarters? they got only 24 hours per day.
-Dhanasekar SAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6474889723199531038.post-80821003047810089492010-04-18T20:43:25.446+05:302010-04-18T20:43:25.446+05:30:) Thanks Pari and Dhana!

"Why do we write such steps" - ...Allmas,

"Why do we write such steps" - I feel this is a fantastic question, but could there be more reasons than the ones you have posted? - I feel the fundamental issue with a test case is, it is expected to be complete when a tester hardly know about the product, device under test. Many a times, testers are asked to submit test cases with only a spec document for reference. Also, what could be the value of such a test case even if it is "complete"?. I also feel "test cases" have been given more importance not because it has the potential to find bugs but it could be used for training, metrics, sharing with clients, etc.

-Sharath.B
http://testtotester.blogspot.comSharath Byregowdahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05598574569004749448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6474889723199531038.post-15017330495259527912009-11-30T16:36:51.828+05:302009-11-30T16:36:51.828+05:30Welcome to Blogosphere Allmas!
